Coco Glucoside (and) Glyceryl Oleate
Lipidsoft PO 65 is a naturally derived blend of coco glucoside and glyceryl oleate that replenishes lipids lost during cleansing. Add it to shampoos, body washes, facial cleansers, and baby products to improve softness, reduce the tight or squeaky-clean feel, enhance conditioning, and create a richer, creamier wash experience. It can also boost viscosity in many sulfate-free surfactant systems and is easy to incorporate using cold processing—just follow Valerie's Pro Tips and the technical data below for formulation guidelines.
This lipid-rich surfactant duo is the secret weapon to enriching any cleansing formulation, whether it be for skin or hair.
- Helps reduce the drying effects of cleansing
- Leaves skin feeling softer and more moisturized at 1%
- Significantly reduces roughness at 3%
- Retains skin hydration for 24 hours at 5%
- Improves hair conditioning and wet combability at 5%
- Enhances shine and softness in shampoos at 5%
- Creates a richer, creamier foam
- Can increase viscosity in sulfate-free cleansers at 5%
- Makes surfactant systems more mild at 3%
- Suitable for clear, opaque, and pearlized formulations
- Naturally derived from renewable vegetable sources
While Lipidsoft PO 65 is a water-soluble emollient-surfactant that can be cold-processed, it does take a little bit of mixing and patience to go in! Add it right after your anionic surfactants and before your amphoteric surfactants. Make sure you’re working in a slightly acidic pH (< 7). Little gel globs may form, but with slow mixing they’ll go away in due time.
Lipidsoft PO 65 is a blend of coco glucoside and glyceryl oleate, which are manufactured separately. To make glyceryl oleate, vegetable oils are hydrolyzed to obtain fatty acids, namely oleic acid (C18:1). Oleic acid is reacted with glycerin to produce glyceryl oleate. Coco glucoside is produced by reacting dextrose (a sugar derived from starch) with coconut-derived fatty alcohols in the presence of an acid catalyst.
