The Future of Beauty is DIY

The Future of Beauty is DIY

I'm Valerie, the founder of Simply Ingredients. By day, I'm a cosmetic chemist and by night I share my passion for ingredients with you here. Passion, obsession... they're the same thing, right?

Simply Ingredients is four years in the making, and the timing couldn't be better for you. There is so much information on the internet about cosmetics, and I have to say, a lot of it is misinformation. I hope Simply Ingredients can not only be an online destination for the world's best ingredients, but serve as a resource to help you demystify beauty products and discover the fun of DIY beauty, right in the safety of your kitchen or on your craft bench.

Sustainability is at the core of our ethos, and we are excited to teach you about the stories of ingredients and their sourcing, how to formulate minimally, and thoughts to consider as you navigate both the DIY and consumer product world.

Our ingredient portfolio is not necessarily natural or organic, it's whatever works or gets me excited. If I can't stop talking about an ingredient for weeks on end, I know it's meant to be shared with you! Our ingredient pages are full of information to teach you about ingredients in general and help you make ingredient choices that fit your personal standard of beauty, whatever they may be.

Within each ingredient on our store, you'll find a section at the end called MAKE IT YOURS. This section features a recipe to show you how we were inspired to use our ingredients. We've also incorporated ingredients you can easily find at your local grocery store or market.

I love to share my knowledge with others, so we'll post various articles semi-weekly with tips for making products in your home lab (AKA kitchen), good practices to keep you and your products safe, and additional recipes featuring some of our ingredients.

Sign up for our newsletter in the "join the community" section at the bottom of this page. This will ensure you get notified whenever we post.

I'm excited to have you as a part of this educational journey. Now let's go have some fun in the kitchen!

Valerie
