Our shea butter improves the lives of and empowers women in rural African communities. The kernels are sustainably sourced from members of the Global Shea Alliance and are Fair for Life certified. Women are paid a fair price for their harvest and no forced or child labor is used.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
A must-have in any creator's cabinet, shea butter is known for its hydrating and protective properties due to compounds called unsaponifiables. Our shea butter is mildly refined to remove heavy metals and other impurities that cause crystals in your formulations, leaving pure shea butter with its unsaponifiables still intact - all the good stuff and none of the worries.
Shea kernels are harvested from trees in the shea belt of Africa, where they grow in the wild without the use of fertilizer or pesticides. After the kernels are collected, the pulp is removed and the remaining kernel is washed before being sun-dried. The shea kernels are then mechanically crushed, washed with bleaching clays to decolorize and distilled to deodorize, leaving creamy shea butter.
