Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Wax

What It Does

Green Tea Wax is soft, creamy wax with a medium-low melting point. Its name is a bit of a misnomer in that it functions less like a wax in formulations and more like an emollient. Green Tea Wax is excellent for reducing transepidermal water loss on skin. In formulations, it has good oil-binding capacity and adds the perfect creaminess at less than 3% use. Bonus - we love the aromatherapy benefits the wax offers, as well as the light green color it imparts in balms.

How It's Made

When green tea leaves undergo supercritical CO₂ extraction to remove caffeine from the leaves, the crude wax protecting the leaves is simultaneously removed and collected.

CO2 Extraction
CO2 Extraction

Green tea leaves undergo supercritical CO2 extraction during the decaffeination process. Crude wax, a waste product, is collected.

Crude wax undergoes refinement to isolate the pure wax from leaves and other plant debris.

The refined wax is further purified through filtration.

"Green Tea Wax has brought my mind so much peace and calm due to the light green tea scent it imparts to formulations. It's my go-to emollient for when I'm practicing mindfulness."
